The Jenks Downtown District will be transformed into a cultural arts experience on Saturday, October 10 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm as thousands of participants gather to appreciate Oklahoma’s creative talent at Art on Main. This signature art show seeks to create access to a broad array of arts experiences, nurture the development and understanding of diverse art forms and cultures and encourage the expanding depth and breadth of cultural life in Oklahoma. This event recently was awarded Oklahoma Community Institute’s “Outstanding Community Improvement Initiative.” Visitors will have the opportunity to view the beauty of human expression through a variety of mediums, such as drawing, glass, jewelry, mixed media, oil, watercolor, fiber, pottery, photography, sculpture, metal smith and wood carving. Integrated within the hundred artists, Oklahoma wineries will be offering samples. Plus, local musicians create an inviting ambiance along with the expression of a local dance studio group. Featured entertainment will be Tulsa’s own Salsa Rhythm Project and musician Joesf Glaude. Other musicians include The James Band, The Zoots and Mongo Like Bart. Children will also be able to express their creativity at the Children Arts Area sponsored by the Oklahoma Aquarium.Art on Main is free to the public through the assistance of community sponsors and a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts.
